Tomokazu Komiya

Background and a closer look at the illustrations

A freelance illustrator since 1996, Tomokazu Komiya also works on children's books and magazines. In his official Pokémon interview, he lists acrylic gouache, pencils and markers among his tools. This traditional practice helps explain the personality of his images.

A useful way to discover his signature is to compare expressions, poses and backgrounds across several cards. Flingouste, Mascaïman, Lewsor and Spododo offer different subjects here, without limiting a collection to the rarest cards.
